Katrina's Nail Blog turns THREE!;

hello, hello :)

I'm so excited to say that today marks my blog's third year anniversary~ It's crazy to believe that three years ago, I just randomly decided to start a nail blog .. and to see it come this far ... its unbelievable! Thanks for all the love & support over the past three years ♥

In honor of my blog's third birthday, I decided to sport the same mani that started my blog back in 2010 -- here is a link to my first mani, first post, and first tutorial. Apparently, I did an all-in-one with this mani -- hahaha. I also did this same mani last year for my blog's second birthday.

I used Sinful Color's Cream Pink & China Glaze's Happy Go Lucky.

This blog has been ... quite something -- not sure what kind of 'something' .. but it's a good kind, that's for sure. hahaha, I don't even think that sentence makes sense ... but thanks for sticking with me thus far :D

Have a great day!,

Outfit Inspired Mani;

hi :D

Just a really quick mani to share today;

This was inspired by an outfit that I wore a few weeks ago (this design was also done a few weeks ago). Let me just say that those triangles on the thumb took foreverrrrrr to do! o__O The mustard yellow is Etude House's OR205 Tangerine Sherbert, the ivory-ish stripes are done with Orly's Pure Porcelain, and the pink hearts were painted on with China Glaze's Laced Up.

This is it for now, I hope your week starts out well :)

Have a good one!,

Phone Case Inspired Mani;

hi :)

Here is a mani that I did about 3 weeks ago;

It is inspired by the phone case that I bought in Thailand for my sister; the phone case is in the background there. The mustard yellow is Etude House's OR205 Tangerine Sherbert, the ivory-ish color is (my favorite) Orly's Pure Porcelain, & the bright sky blue is Orly's beautiful Frisky.

I actually really liked this mani :)

Alright, I hope your week has been going well :)

Have a good day!,

Shimmer Polish Julia & Cacee BFE Daydream Aura swatches;

hey :D

Just wanted to share a few swatches of some polishes that I've been behind on swatching & posting -- forgive me! :( These were sent over to me by Tony over from Cacee and Cindy over at Shimmer Polish.

2 coats of Daydream Aura -- it's a little less sky blue irl, but it's shimmery prettiness.

2 coats of Julia over DA. This combo reminded me of ... an icy / snowy winter. idk - that sounds weird but it just gave off such a beautiful winter feel :D I'm in Michigan and our winter is still dragging & i don't exactly like winter .. but for the few days that I wore this mani, I really enjoyed the winter feel. hahaha

A blurry shot of glittery goodness.

... :D isnt' it just so pretty? These two polishes were like ... a match made in heaven. hahaha

I just want to give a big thanks to Tony over from Cacee & Cindy of Shimmer Polish for sending over the polishes. Be sure to check out their sites~

Have a great day!,

Not My Valentine's Day Mani;

hey :)

Just wanted to share a Valentine's Day mani I did last night for a friend -- she wanted pink-everything, which is a great idea, and just random designs ... and this what we came up with.

As for me, I won't be sporting a V Day mani ... and I'm ok with that :D

Have a great day!,

Nail Candy 'Love Letter' Pens Review;

hey :)

A few weeks ago, Caroline of Nail Candy sent me their 'Love Letter' collection pens.

Nail Candy pens are "a duel function applicator, one side is a brush to paint the nail and the other is a patented 'micro-tip' that enables intricate nail designs" -- as stated by Nail Candy. There are two colors on each pen, both colors have a brush and a pen tip. The picture above is pretty self explanatory.

Here is the mani I came up with. The polishes worked wonders -- I really liked them, the application was very easy. The pens, however, were not as easy. As you can see, my lines (on my pointer finger) did not turn out too well. The problem I had with the Nail Candy pens was that you have to squeeze the tube for the polish to come out -- if you squeeze too hard then too much polish comes out and it gets too thick. The pens were great for dotting though, as you can see on my thumb & pinky. Another problem I had with the pens was that you cannot put the tip (of the pen) on your nail to do the design because the tip will dig into your polish.

I just wanted to give a big thanks to Caroline of Nail Candy for the pens.

Have a great day!,

BPS Baby Pearls Review + Mani;

hey :)

A while ago, Nicole of Born Pretty Store sent me over some baby pearls to review. The nail pearls come in a wheel are there 3 different sizes of pearls. Here is the mani I did, about two weeks ago, with the pearls;

The base is 2 coats of Rimmel's French Rose and the white glitter is Serum No 5's White Paradox. I used the baby pearls and the rhinestones that were sent to me from Born Pretty Store. The pearls (and rhinestones) sat very well and comfortably on my nails and they're just so perfect for the mani :D

A big thanks to Nicole of Born Pretty Store for the pearls. Don't forget, you are always more than welcomed to use my coupon code & save 10% off your order when you order from BPS!~ Here's the code is 'KL5X31' :)

Have a great day!,

OMG Nail Strips Review;

hi~

Will, of OMG Nail Strips, recently sent me over two nail strips to try; I received Tiger nail polish strips & Red/Gold Floral nail foil strips. OMG Nail Strips has both foil and polish strips starting under $5.

This is the Tiger nail polish strips; there were 14 different nail strips.

I've had experiences with other nail strips but these worked so well! I truly enjoyed these; they were easy to work with, application and removal was easy, it was comfortable on my nails, there were no lifting and/or curling at the edges, and there were no air bubbles and/or gaps. The sizes of the strips fit very well and adjusting the strips were also easy.

This was the left overs; I think the strips would have been long enough for two uses but because of the tip/back, it is only good for one use. It's a shame that so much goes to waste though.

This is the Red/Gold Floral nail foil strips.

These foil strips, on the other hand, were not enjoyable. They were too stiff, too thick, and the sizes were really big. They lifted at the edge, they did not sit comfortably on my nails, and application wasn't all that.

You can see that the foils did not apply well to my nails.

Nail strips for $5? I like the sound of that~ I would definitely recommend the nail polish strips, they were really easy to work with, but I wouldn't recommend the foil strips.

I want to give a big thanks to Will of OMG Nail Strips for sending over the strips. Be sure to check out the site~

Have a great day!,
